Eluana father probed for murder

The father of an Italian woman who died this month after a right-to-die battle that split the country has been placed under investigation for murder. Beppino Englaro, 67, is one of 14 people probed in connection with his daughter’s death at a clinic in the northern city of Udine after 17 years in a vegetative state.

Totti doubt for Inter

Francesco Totti is an injury doubt for AS Roma’s match at Serie A leaders Inter Milan on Sunday night. The Roma skipper missed Friday training because of pain in his right knee that has dogged him all season and led to an under-par display at Arsenal in midweek. Citizens’ rights group welcomes school collapse ruling

Citizens’ rights association Cittadinanzattiva on Thursday expressed ”extreme satisfaction” after an appeals court found five people guilty in connection with a 2002 earthquake disaster in which an entire class of small school children died.

Pasta producers fined for creating cartel

Italy’s anti-trust authority has slapped fines totalling 12.5 million euros on 26 pasta producers and the national producers’ union Unipi for creating a cartel with the aim of stifling competition and driving up prices.

Roma eye Champions zone

AS Roma is hoping to get into Serie A’s Champions League qualification zone by doing what Manchester United couldn’t this week and beating Inter Milan at San Siro on Sunday night. Roma, runners-up the last two years, had a dismal start to the season, losing six of their first nine games including a 4-0 drubbing by leaders and champs Inter.
