Two quakes jolt L’Aquila

Two minor quakes jolted the central Italian province of L’Aquila on Monday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. Officials said the epicentre was in an area between the towns of Pizzoli and Collimento and the city of L’Aquila.

Injured bus driver prevents disaster

Passengers on a Genoa bus were sent flying on Monday after the bus driver’s seat collapsed from under him as he drove through morning traffic. The driver found himself sprawled on the bus floor with a broken shoulder, but managed to reach the brake pedal with his hand and reduce the speed with which the bus hit a nearby wall
