While pizza is to be found in just about every corner of the world, its popularity in its land of origin has never diminished. Pizza is as popular today in Italy as it ever has been. Have you ever wondered where in Italy the best pizzas can be found? Seeing as much of Italy appears to be fuming over the latest escapade of the Berlusconi government, I felt it might be nice to take a break from politics for a moment and to look at a distinctly more appetising subject, which is also much easier to digest: pizza . Italian author Orietta Boncompagni Ludovisi has had her book “ The Best Pizzerias In Italy ” republished some five times since it first appeared in 1996. Each time a new edition of Boncompagni Ludovisi’s pizza book hits the bookshops of Italy, it sells like hot cakes. Perhaps that should be “sells like hot pizzas”

I’ve been a bit too snowed under with work recently to write much about what’s going on in Italy. Meanwhile though, little storms have been blowing up all over the place in the Living Museum. To kick off, we’ve got the allegations of corruption leveled at Guido Bertolaso, the head of Italy’s civil defence organisation, still fizzling away, although Bertolaso seems to have evaded most of the flack. The Bertolaso affair, though, was merely the tip of an iceberg

On the streets of Milan in Italy hybrid cars, such as the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius are becoming common sights. The effects of ever rising fuel costs coupled with the introduction of the Ecopass pollution charging system certainly seem to have convinced more than a few of Milan’s motorists to go for a means of transport which is perhaps a little kinder to our environment. It is not just Milan’s private motorists who are going for hybrids and thus going green. Then there is green luxury too

Renato Brunetta , Italy’s diminutive but dynamic Minister for Meritocracy, let’s call him, has caused something of a stir by saying that the wording of Article One of the Italian constitution is nonsense. Perhaps Brunetta does have a point. For many Italians, Italy’s constitution is sacrosanct. Just about any criticism of this esteemed text raises hackles, so it came as no surprise whatsoever to hear that Brunetta’s observation had evoked Vesuvius-like eruptions

BlogfromItaly is kicking off 2010 on an optimistic note. This post is about BridgestoItaly – a networking site set up by enterprising Italian Bianca Dellepiane to provide a little online publicity for the work of Italian scientists in the Biotech, Nanotech, Cleantech and High-tech sectors. However before saying some more about BridgestoItaly, a New Year’s rant about bad news.

I’ve been having an interesting discussion over on Twitter via my @newsfromitaly persona. The question I posed was ‘Who’s your Italian of the Decade? Someone who has raised Italy’s image positively throughout the world.’ Those who have been mulling this question over, Italians and non-Italians, have come up with an interesting list

Christmas is a coming, and the little one has asked Santa for a guitar. Don’t tell him, but Santa picked up a guitar for the little fellow this weekend. This Santa likes guitars. Santa Likes Guitars To obtain a guitar one, generally, heads to a guitar shop, and there is one I know down in the centre of Milan. It’s always looked well stocked to me, and its window is crammed full of glorious Gibsons and fabulous Fenders, just as any self respecting guitar shop should be. Quite a mouthwatering selection.
